Since 2023, USC’s Center for Languages and Cultures has hosted an annual international conference dedicated to exploring gender-inclusive language instruction. These gatherings bring together educators, researchers, and practitioners to share pedagogical strategies, research findings, and classroom innovations. The conference serves as a platform for discussing practical approaches to language teaching that acknowledge and address the complexities of language and identity.​

In 2023, the first annual conference on gender-inclusive language teaching brought together researchers, practitioners and members of the LGBTQI+ communities to discuss the urgency of adopting gender-inclusive language and promoting diverse and inclusive learning environments. The speakers presented their research and projects, while the panelists and audience shared practical ways of using gender alternatives in their classrooms to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion.
