The USC Center for Languages and Cultures offers a wide range of professional development opportunities for language faculty and graduate students. The CLC hosts a plethora of workshops and talks on topics including ungrading, virtual reality (VR) for language teaching and learning, and gender-inclusive language instruction. In Fall 2023 specifically, the center hosted a series of roundtables, talks and panels that can be accessed here. To access all past talks and workshops, click here.
In addition to professional resources, the CLC offers financial support through faculty grants. Beyond financial resources, the CLC also provides language advocacy materials to assist faculty in promoting bilingualism and language learning in the classroom and beyond. Language learning opens doors for students, and can help them achieve their professional and career goals. In fact, a study by Preply, as featured in Forbes, reports that those who speak more than one language earn an average of 19% more than their monolingual counterparts.
