Fisher Fellowship
Active Fellows can earn up to $10K toward undergraduate co-curricular opportunities like study abroad trips, Maymesters, select alternate winter/summer breaks, participation in SURF and SOAR programs, etc.

Eligibility:
– Declared major in the USC Dornsife College of Letters, Arts and Sciences (must maintain a declared Dornsife major for the entire tenure as a Fisher Fellow).
– 3.0 cumulative GPA or better (student must maintain a 3.0+ GPA to stay in the program.
– First-generation student (your parent(s) did not complete a 4-year college degree).
– Demonstrated financial need.
– First-year student, Sophomore, or Junior.

Critical Language Scholarship (CLS) Program

Full scholarships for American undergraduate and graduate students to participate in CLS-sponsored overseas summer study programs in languages that are critical to U.S. interests. Funded by the U.S. Department of State.

Boren Scholarships and Fellowships

Funding for U.S. undergraduate students to study less commonly taught languages in world regions critical to U.S. interests, and underrepresented in study abroad, including Africa, Asia, Central and Eastern Europe, Eurasia, Latin America, and the Middle East. Boren Fellowships are available for graduate students. U.S. citizenship required.

Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship Program

Scholarship for fall, spring, summer or academic year study abroad and internship programs for Pell Grant eligible undergraduate students. Students may apply for the supplemental Critical Need Language Award to support the study of a critical-need language while abroad in a country where that language is predominantly spoken. U.S. citizenship required.

Fulbright U.S. Student Program

The Fulbright U.S. Student Program provides grants for an academic year for individually designed study/research projects or for English Teaching Assistant programs outside of the United States.  The Fulbright U.S. Student Program awards over 2,200 grants annually in all fields of study, and operates in more than 140 countries. From its inception, the Program has fostered bilateral relationships in which citizens and governments of other countries work towards mutual understanding.

Blakemore Freeman Fellowships

Blakemore Freeman Fellowships grant for advanced level language study in East or Southeast Asia.

United States-Japan Bridging Foundation

Undergraduate students majoring in any field of study are eligible to apply for Bridging Scholarships. Japanese language study is not a prerequisite. Applicants must be U.S. citizens and must be enrolled as undergraduates in a college or university in the United States before and during the time they are studying abroad. Their study in Japan must last for at least 3 months and must earn credit that will transfer to their home campus in the US.

Association for Japan-U.S. Community Exchange (ACE) – Nikaido Fellowship

Provides stipends of up to $5,000 to awarded students, depending on the proposed course of study. The purpose of the award is to advance understanding of Japan and/or US-Japan relations.
