Biography
Katherine King is a first-year Ph.D. student in Sociology at the University of Southern California. After graduating from Kenyon College with her B.A. in Sociology, Katherine spent seven years working in social services in rural Ohio. Her research interests lie in the areas of medical sociology, sociology of family, and sociology of gender. She plans to conduct research on substance use and treatment in rural areas, focusing on the experiences of parents using illicit substances. As part of a research team led by Dr. Berkeley Franz at Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine, Katherine is currently involved in research on barriers to medication for opioid use disorder (MOUD) treatment in rural areas.
