Summer 2022 International Virtual Internships
Dornsife Overseas Studies will provide funding for a limited number of Dornsife majors to participate in virtual summer internships. The internships are unpaid, and the fees to the internship-coordinating organizations will be paid on selected students’ behalf.
The internship placements are generally with small NGOs or small start-ups. They are not with large national, regional, or international corporations. They are not best suited for students with extensive internship experience or hoping for an internship leading to a job offer.
Students for whom participation in an unpaid internship poses a large financial challenge and students who are restricted from international travel (e.g. Dreamers) are encouraged to apply.
These opportunities are best suited for students who want to:
- explore different types of organizations.
- explore different type of career possibilities.
- explore the culture of workplaces outside the U.S. and learn about a different country.
- learn from the challenges involved with working across time zones and with colleagues from different backgrounds, perspectives, and work cultures.
A virtual international internship is an excellent opportunity to:
- Improve your resumé and job opportunities, building work experience in a field of interest.
- Develop important skills related to new cultures and remote work.
- Become familiar with a new global location as well as industries and career pathways.
- Build your network, within your program cohort and across the globe.

The USC Dornsife Office of Overseas Studies is sponsoring a very limited number of international remote internship placements for Summer 2022 in partnership with an internship provider called the Global Learning Collective.
The Global Learning Collective welcomes students across the world to participate in an 8-week virtual team-based internship contributing to a sustainable future for all. The main objective of the Global Internship Program is to connect talented students to solve real-world organizational challenges related to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs), giving students a platform to professionally and personally develop their intercultural competencies and prepare to become global leaders with the know-how to successfully navigate in a multicultural environment.
How it works:
Small groups of 4-6 students from different regions and backgrounds will be assigned to a project with a specific organizational partner from the GLC network (in Asia, Africa, Europe or South America) to develop a solution that corresponds to the SDG(s) assigned as a thematic focus. The consulting teams will work with actual companies to develop new policies, present ideas, and explore strategies to propel global leaders and companies toward fulfillment of the United Nations SDGs.
During the internship experience, students will meet weekly with the partner organization, attend sessions with a team mentor for feedback and support, and participate in a variety of cultural activities. Participants should expect to dedicate approximately 10 hours/week to internship activities. Students from all Dornsife majors are encouraged to apply.
