Talk to me about: Anything and everything, and especially what it’s like to slow down and really live in the Netherlands! Coming from the hustle and bustle of LA, I loved how much more relaxed life felt. People actually made time to enjoy life—whether that meant biking everywhere, spending time in nature, or simply sitting at a café. I fell in love with the biking and walking culture (so much fun and so healthy), exploring local markets, wandering through the vast amounts of greenery and nature in Maastricht, and spending hours café-hopping.
The nature was so healing, and one of my favorite spots was St. Pietersberg, where there are fields, forests, herds of sheep, and the most amazing lookout over a quarry and abandoned factory. And since Maastricht is full of international students from all over the world, I got to meet people from many different cultures, which made the experience even more special.
Advice: Slow down, explore, and say yes to everything you can! Some of my best memories came from spontaneous plans, long walks, and meeting people I never would have crossed paths with otherwise. Now, I have friends from all around the globe! Don’t stress about doing things “perfectly”—just immerse yourself, be curious, and enjoy the little moments. The semester flies by, so take in as much beauty, adventure, and connection as you can!
