    • Laura Barraclough has accepted an appointment as Assistant Professor at Yale University’s American Studies Department. Laura Pulido advised her.
    • Jungmiwha Bullock will be a  Visiting Scholar in residence at UC Berkeley, Dept. of Ethnic Studies working under the sponsorship of Michael Omi on her book manuscript “Who’s Your Daddy: An International Study on Multiracial Children Orphaned By Military Personnel Abroad.”
    • Genevieve Carpio was selected as postdoctoral fellow in Yale’s History Department and with the Race, Ethnicity and Migration Program. She is advised by George Sanchez.
    • Jesús J. Hernández has accepted a position as Visiting Assistant Professor in the Latina/o Studies program at Williams College.
    • Viet Le was selected as research fellow at the International Institute for Asian Studies in Leiden University.
    • Jeb Middlebrook has accepted a position as Assistant Professor at California State University (Dominguez Hills) Sociology Department. Lanita Jacobs advised him.
    • Anjali Nath, (PhD 2013) received a Chancellor’s Postdoctoral Fellowship at UC Davis, 2013-14 and will accept an appointment as an Assistant Professor at the American University in Beirut. Sarah Banet-Weiser advised her.
    • Phuong Nguyen has accepted a position at Ithaca College, New York, as Assistant Professor of Asian American Studies and Sociology.
    • Margaret Salazar-Porzio has accepted a position as Curator of Latino/a History and Culture at the Smithsonian Institution National Museum of American History.

    • Crystal Baik (advised by Macarena Gomez Barris) has accepted a position as Assistant Professor of Ethnic Studies, University of California Riverside
    • Kai Green (advised by Kara Keeling) has received a Sexuality Studies Postdoctoral Fellowship at Northwestern University.
    • Priscilla Leiva (Advised by George Sanchez) has accepted a position as Assistant Professor of Chican/o History at California State University Los Angeles and a Postdoctoral Fellowship at the University of Texas Austin

    • Abigal Rosas (advised by George Sanchez) has accepted a position as Assistant Professor and Co-Director of Ethnic Studies at CSU, Stanislaus.
    • Perla M Guerrero (advised by George Sanchez) who is currently Assistant Professor of American Studies at the University of Maryland, College Park, won a Ford Foundation Postdoctoral Fellowship.

    • Wendy Cheng received the Asian American Studies early career award at AAAS.  Cheng has accepted a position as Assistant Professor of American Studies at Scripps College.
    • Michelle Commander received tenured as Associate Professor of Africana Studies and English at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.  Her book Afro-Atlantic Flight: Speculative Returns and the Black Fantastic (Duke Press), was recently published in March 2017.
    • Robert Eap accepted a position as Program Manager, In-Prison Program at Defy Ventures, a non-profit organization in San Francisco
    • Laura Fugikawa has accepted a position as Visiting Assistant Professor, Study of Gender and Women at Smith College
    • Hillary Jenks accepted a position as Coordinator, Graduate Writing Center at University of California, Riverside

    • David Stein has accepted a Lecturer position in the Department of African American Studies and the History Department at UCLA.
    • Cam Vu has accepted a position as the Director of Development and Strategic Communications at USC’s School of Public Policy.
    • Terrion Williamson’s new book “Scandalize My Name: Black Practice and the Making of Black Social Life” is out from Fordham University Press.  Williamson has accepted an Assistant Professor position at the University of Minnesota in the Department of African American and African Studies with joint appointments with the Departments of Gender, Women & Sexuality and American Studies.
    • Yushi Yamazaki has accepted a position as Research Associate of the Center for Global Communication Strategies at Tokyo University, 2016-18.
    • Daniel HoSang was named Department Head in the Department of Ethnic Studies at the University of Oregon in July 2016.
