Biography

Elayne (she/hers) is a second-generation Chinese-American and identifies as a cisgender female. After graduating from Oberlin College in 2018, she worked at UC Riverside as a lab manager and then at the Feinberg School of Medicine as a clinical research coordinator prior to joining the Clinical Science program at USC.

She is passionate about addressing racial/ethnic disparities in mental health outcomes and access to care. She aims to accomplish these goals by understanding mental health trajectories and needs of racially minoritized youth from a multisystemic perspective. With that understanding, she hopes to develop, disseminate, and implement culturally relevant interventions in accessible settings for youth and families of color.

  • Summary Statement of Research Interests

I study early life experiences of racial-ethnic minoritized youth that might be protective or harmful towards their mental health in order to develop treatments informed by their contexts and identities. My goal is to increase access to responsive treatments, reducing barriers to mental health care for marginalized groups.
