• Summary Statement of Research Interests

B.A. Linguistics (PUCP), M.A. Philosophy (NIU). Nurit is interested in fundamental disagreements, and the problems they raise for both metaethics and political philosophy. One part of her project is to figure out whether most views according to which there is a shared standard that could settle these disagreements inherit the problems of views that reject the existence of such a shared standard, for example, the worry that we should treat those we have fundamental disagreements with as if they were psychopaths, or that we should flip a coin to decide who is right. The other part is to see if there is a shared standard that can avoid these worries and, in particular, to see the kind of politics that would come out from such a shared standard. Would they vindicate liberalism, or would they push into more communitarian directions?
