Gathering Philosophers in Southern California

A workshop aimed at building a more diverse philosophical community.

GPS is a new initiative for undergraduates, run by faculty and graduate students at the University of Southern California. The aim of this workshop is to bring together students from underrepresented groups, with a focus on women and other minorities, who are interested in pursuing graduate studies in Philosophy. The last workshop took place at the University of Southern California November 23, 2019. The workshop consisted of a variety of events open to participants who were selected through an application process. Events include sessions such as “Applying to and Life in Graduate School”, a keynote lecture, and individual mentoring sessions with USC faculty and graduate students. 2019’s Keynote Speaker was Briana Toole of Claremont McKenna College!

The department awards a limited number of travel and hotel stipends to accepted applicants in order to make travel and attendance to GPS more accessible to all. Applications should indicate whether you would like to be considered for a travel stipend.
