Roshan Shah in Bristol, UK

I grew up in San Diego, which included things like sunny, cloudless weather 24/7 and a routine that kept me inside most of the time. I studied abroad to get out of my comfort zone and explore unfamiliar countries on a different continent.  I selected my program because it was one of two programs that had the option to take pharmaceutical classes that would transfer over to USC. Bristol ended up being a great place to study abroad, and I enjoyed exploring it.

What is one of your favorite memories from your program?

One of my favorite memories from my program was spending time with my flatmates through the university-provided accommodation. They helped me get accustomed to life in the U.K., and it was amazing exploring Bristol with them. The housing situation enhanced my study abroad experience by facilitating connections with students from many different cities in England. It helped me make friends with locals more easily and helped me to adjust to life in the U.K.

What advice do you have for future students going on this program?

The advice that I have is to take full advantage of what Bristol has to offer. Try new restaurants (the food scene is great). Discover its museums/famous places. Make connections with peers and professors. These will be the little things that you will appreciate when you look back at your time in Bristol.
