Talk to me about: Anything! Study Abroad, Spanish Minor, Pre-med, USC, etc. I studied abroad in Oaxaca, Mexico (Fall 2024) on the SIT Program on the topic of Migration, so if you have any questions about the specific program, Mexican culture, host families, safety, Spanish, etc., I am happy to help! If you are pre-health, I would definitely recommend studying in Latin America to increase your Spanish fluency for working with Spanish-speaking patients in the future! Regardless (pre-med or not), for any reason, don’t hesitate to reach out!

Advice: Firstly, Just Do It! Don’t second-guess yourself about whether you should study abroad. I promise it will be a once-in-a-lifetime experience!

Secondly, plan, plan, plan in advance! Making room in your 4-year USC plan for study abroad can be difficult, but it is 100% worth it! Speak to your study abroad advisors and major advisors as soon as possible!

Thirdly, you do not have to study abroad just for major requirements. You can study abroad for personal growth, language/culture learning, and other goals. I studied abroad 2 different semesters, and only one counted for minor credit, with the other being just elective credit. If you want to, however, you can get credit for your major or minor (like a Spanish Minor!) for studying abroad in a Spanish-speaking country.
Finally, really take advantage of your time abroad, each and every day! Go to cultural events, look up activities, make friends with locals, visit new places, etc. Feel free to talk to me about this too!
