Biography
Juliana is a second-year P.h.D. student advised by Paul Lerner.
As a retail and consumer historian, her research interests include: the history of the European department store, the impact of shifting modes of retail and consumerism on individual self-concept, and the social history of cross-cultural interactions via increased globalism in retail.
Juliana holds an M.A. and a Merit award in Modern European History from King’s College London. Anna McGuire advised Stewart’s M.A. thesis entitled ‘Behind the Counter and Beyond: London Shop-Girls and Identity Construction in the Late- Victorian and Edwardian Department Store.’ Juliana also holds a B.A. from Brigham Young University in European Studies and German Studies.
