  • Summary Statement of Research Interests

    Seoyeon researches science fiction literature and culture in Korea, mainland China, and Sinophone worlds including Taiwan and Hong Kong through the lenses of feminist, gender, and postcolonial studies. She is particularly interested in contemporary Chinese/Sinophone and Korean science fiction literature written by women and nonbinary authors. Her current research centers on the trope of cyborgs and alien beings along with the representation of gendered and queer bodies.
