Di Wang
Biography
Di Wang is a PhD candidate in the Department of East Asian Languages and Cultures at the University of Southern California. Before joining USC, she received her B.A. in History and Asian Studies from the George Washington University and her M.A. in East Asian Languages and Civilizations from the University of Pennsylvania. Her research explores the construction and negotiation of various identities in premodern Eastern Eurasia, at the intersection of history and art history. As part of her dissertation research, she has conducted fieldwork in museums and historical sites across China and Central Asia.

Summary Statement of Research Interests
Di’s research interests include middle-period Chinese and Inner Asian history, material culture of the Silk Road, and discourses of ethnicity in premodern Eastern Eurasia. Her dissertation examines the construction, negotiation, and eventual destabilization of Sogdian identity in China between the sixth and tenth centuries.
