As a historian, educator, and organizer, Cathleen roots herself in learning from people’s lived experiences across an intergenerational spectrum in order to record and examine stories about regional change in public life. Her work focuses on how migrant-based communities form through creating and using public space to enhance their livelihoods. She is a third-generation resident of the northeast San Fernando Valley and advocates for transforming spaces to meet local needs and celebrate cultural practices, sustaining a tradition that comprises the core of her research on her home.
