Research

USC Sea Grant funds research to address America’s most urgent coastal and ocean needs, NOAA’s national priorities, and the National Sea Grant Program’s goals while addressing the specific needs and priorities of the state and the region. Under the umbrella of USC Sea Grant’s Urban Ocean theme, our program’s focus areas are congruent with the National Sea Grant College Program Strategic Plan for 2024-2027 and include:

• Healthy Coastal Ecosystems;
• Sustainable Fisheries and Aquaculture;
• Resilient Communities and Economies; and
• Environmental Literacy and Workforce Development

Each USC Sea Grant-funded project below adheres to both our program’s “Urban Ocean” theme and provides relevance to these focus areas.
