Sociology is excited to introduce a new opportunity for USC undergraduates: the Dornsife Intensive in Survey Design and Data Analysis. It is open to any major across the university.

Today’s employers increasingly rely on data to make better decisions. This new 12-unit intensive gives students practical experience designing surveys, collecting data, analyzing results, and communicating findings—skills that are in demand across business, healthcare, government, nonprofits, education, technology, and many other fields.

Students who complete the three-course sequence will earn transcript recognition for the intensive, demonstrating specialized training that complements virtually any major.

Students wishing to declare the Survey Design & Data Analysis Intensive may consult a member of their current major’s advising team to ascertain if enough degree elective space is available in their graduation course plan to complete the program. If there is, they can ask their advisor to open a referral to Survey Design & Data Analysis in Advise USC. This referral process will become available on Monday, August 17 2026.
