Rebecca Lang in CUHK
Studying abroad was definitely one of the highlights of my undergraduate experience; going during fall 2019, when the Hong Kong protests were in full swing, was an unforgettable time, giving me an important international perspective on democracy and the psychological impacts on front-line protestors. I would strongly encourage all students to spend at least one semester abroad, especially those who are interested in the study of the mind; getting a new perspective is on it is invaluable.
Alexis Dale in Shanghai
Alexis studied International Relations while at USC and received a Boren Scholarship to study in China, she was recently featured in the Daily Trojan.
Betty Thai in Beijing
My abroad semester helped me complete my second major East Asian Languages and Cultures (EALC). It was incredibly rewarding seeing my exponential growth in language proficiency. I also genuinely had some of the best times of my life with new friends exploring every part of Beijing and different parts of China.
Julienna Law in Shanghai
EASC interviewed Julienna Law to talk about her background, academic plans and how FLAS is facilitating her study of Chinese and helping her explore a professional future in East Asia. Julienna studied abroad Spring 2018 in Shanghai, China.
Kecy Sun in Beijing
Studying abroad in Beijing, China as an EALC minor was a truly exceptional experience. Being an American-born-Chinese citizen, I was able to immerse myself in the country that my parents grew up in and learn about the way culture shapes a society’s behavior and attitudes from within, rather than an outside perspective. You may develop a mild addiction to hotpot and street food, but it is totally worth it!
