Studying abroad in Beijing, China as an EALC minor was a truly exceptional experience. Being an American-born-Chinese citizen, I was able to immerse myself in the country that my parents grew up in and learn about the way culture shapes a society’s behavior and attitudes from within, rather than an outside perspective. China’s robust railway system provides anyone with the opportunity to travel from city to city at any time. I took weekend trips to Shanghai, Chengdu, Chongqing, Luoyang, and Qingdao all within a span of one semester. You may develop a mild addiction to hotpot and street food, but it is totally worth it! The EALC minor is also extremely adaptable to any degree or industry. I am personally interested in the intersection of business, politics, and law, and I believe that the EALC minor will allow me to contribute unique insight to my future job in the ever-globalizing world.
