Cynthia is a Senior Data Analyst and has been a part of the ERI team since 2018. She specializes in qualitative research methods including interview protocol design, facilitation, coding, in-depth analysis, and writing. She has managed and assisted in many of ERI’s Immigrant Inclusion and Racial Justice initiatives, spearheading research efforts such as The State of Immigrants in L.A. County (SOILA) and Leading with Hope: Supporting Latina Leaders for a Better California. In collaboration with her colleagues, she creates detailed presentations on ERI analysis, ensuring key findings resonate with partners across California. Beyond her primary focus, Cynthia has also contributed to research on movement building and climate justice—still applying qualitative methods to support and contextualize ERI’s quantitative work.
As part of bringing research efforts to life, Cynthia is passionate about building meaningful partnerships that align with ERI’s mission. She works with partners from local foundations, city and county governments, and advocacy organizations to foster collaboration and drive impactful change. She enjoys engaging with, learning from, and brainstorming alongside partners about how to best utilize research in pursuit of racial and social equity for people of color, immigrants, and low-income populations.
A Southeast L.A. native, Cynthia is deeply committed to amplifying the voices, experiences, and wisdom of immigrant communities and the organizations that support and advocate for them. Prior to joining ERI, she gained experience through internships and volunteer work with immigrant rights organizations and city government. She holds a master’s degree in social work from the University of Washington and dual bachelor’s degrees in psychology and women’s & gender studies from Bucknell University. Outside of ERI, Cynthia can be found playing with her two chihuahuas, traveling, or enjoying her favorite films.
