Meet Gladys Malibiran [mah-lee-BEE-rahn], a strategic and creative force driving the ERI team’s collaborative communication initiatives. With a passion for social change and a commitment to amplifying diverse voices, Gladys ensures that research and data are transformed into compelling narratives that empower community-based organizations, funders, scholars, and advocates to create meaningful impact.

With a background in digital media and content production for nonprofits and progressive philanthropy, Gladys joined the ERI team in 2013 as the first-ever communications coordinator at the USC Program for Environmental and Regional Equity (PERE) and the Center for the Study of Immigrant Integration (CSII). In her role as ERI’s Senior Communications Specialist, she built a dynamic ecosystem for content creation, spanning many websites, publications, blogs, email campaigns, social media, live and virtual events, video production, and media/PR.

Today, as ERI’s Senior Communications Manager, Gladys combines her strategic expertise with a collaborative leadership style. She supervises and mentors team members, spearheads digital content production, cultivates media relations partnerships, and strengthens networks that amplify the reach and impact of ERI’s work.

Gladys’ career is a testament to her dedication to equity and inclusion. Before joining ERI, she held communications roles at nonprofits including: Asian Americans/Pacific Islanders in Philanthropy, the National Gender and Equity Campaign, the Partnership for Immigrant Leadership and Action, and the 9/11 Education Program at the International Institute of NJ. Her commitment to cultural and arts equity was further honed through a fellowship with Emerging Arts Professionals of the San Francisco Bay Area. As the founder and creative director of a social impact communications consultancy, Gladys has also provided strategic and creative services to social sector clients nationwide. Most recently, she completed a nonprofit mentorship program for communications directors, further solidifying her expertise in the social sector. Her innovative approaches have consistently elevated the visibility and influence of the organizations she serves.

An alumna of Boston College, Gladys studied Communications, Fine Art, and Cultural Diversity Studies. Drawing from her lived experience as a first-generation immigrant, she actively volunteers with intersectional communications organizations and cultural activists, championing disability justice and inclusive solidarity movements for collective liberation. Outside of work, Gladys cherishes moments with her family and pup, immerses herself in Korean TV/films and K-music, and is cultivating a “budding” interest in botany.
