ByDepartment of Earth Sciences

The USC Urban Trees Initiative, featured here by USC Dornsife Public Exchange, is a research effort led by Earth Sciences Professor Will Berelson in partnership with the City of Los Angeles Department of Public Works and the Amigos Nursery. The Initiative assesses the impact of different tree species on air quality to inform leaders on what to plant and where in an effort to create an equitable and resilient urban forest.

Prof. Berelson was recently appointed as the Paxson H. Offield Professor in Coastal and Marine Systems in reflection of his academic distinction.
