Daniel Bennett

Daniel Bennett is an associate professor (research) of economics at the University of Southern California.  His research focuses on economic development and global health in South Asia and Southern Africa.  His recent work examines the economic impact of poor mental health in India and the consequences of the HIV/AIDS epidemic in Sub-Saharan Africa.  Dr. Bennett’s other research studies sanitation and hygiene, the organization of pharmaceutical markets, and the impact of COVID-19. He has expertise in survey design, primary data collection, and the implementation of randomized trials. His research has appeared in leading economics journals, including the American Economic Review and the Review of Economic Studies.  His work has been funded by the National Institutes of Health, the National Science Foundation, and the Jameel Poverty Action Lab.  Dr. Bennett received his Ph.D. from Brown University in 2008 and was previously on the faculty of the University of Chicago.
