Center for Health and Labor Economics
Overview
The Health and Labor Economics (HALE) Center, housed within the Dornsife Center for Economic and Social Research (CESR) at the University of Southern California (USC), aims to support research on intersections between health and work. Research projects address how health affects work capacity and labor supply, as well as how job demands and working conditions affect labor supply, compensation, and health. A hallmark of research at the Center is the application of novel econometric and data collection methods to questions of causal inference, combining insights gained from structural modeling, quasi-experimental and experimental approaches. HALE Center research is primarily funded by grants from the National Institute on Aging, the U.S. Social Security Administration, and the National Science Foundation.
