About Us
The Department of East Asian Languages and Cultures at the University of Southern California is dedicated to the interdisciplinary study of the languages, literatures, and cultures of China, Korea, and Japan from the premodern to contemporary periods.
Located in Los Angeles, the Department of East Asian Languages and Cultures at the University of Southern California offers unparalleled access to institutional, cultural, and intellectual resources for the study of East Asia. Within the university, the department enjoys support from the East Asian Studies Center, the Korean Studies Institute, the USC School of Cinema Arts, the Center for Japanese Religions and Culture, the Center for Feminist Research, the Center for Law, History, and Culture, and the Visual Studies Graduate Certificate Program. We also maintain close ties with other research universities and institutions in Southern California.
