Wrigley Institute-affiliated biological sciences researchers Daniel Olivares-Zambrano and Carly Kenkel have received a Gilliam Fellowship to support their marine biology research.

Olivares-Zambrano, who was a recipient of the 2022 Wrigley Institute Graduate Fellowship, studies the symbiotic relationships between sea anemones and coral to understand their capacity to withstand warmer temperatures in Kenkel’s lab. Funded by the Howard Hughes Medical Center, the Gilliam Fellowship aims to enhance diversity in the sciences by supporting PhD students like Olivares-Zambrano and their advisors.
