NOAA’s National Sea Grant Office and National Marine Fisheries Office offer a joint fellowship for doctoral students in two areas: (1) Population and Ecosystem Dynamics and (2) Marine Resource Economics.
Applications are now open for the 2025 Fellowship. Applications are due by January 23, 2025, at 5 pm PT.
Each fellowship opportunity can receive up to three years of funding. The award provided to each Fellow is for a stipend, tuition, fees, equipment, supplies, and travel necessary to carry out the proposed research and to attend the annual Fellows meeting (at rotating locations).
Eligibility
The NMFS-Sea Grant Fellowships are available to U.S. citizens who are graduate students enrolled in or provisionally accepted to Ph.D. degree programs in academic institutions in the United States and its territories. Only U.S. citizens are eligible to apply. Foreign Nationals are not eligible.
Application Process
- Students should apply through a Sea Grant program for the state where they are currently enrolled in school.
- If the student is enrolled in a university that is not represented by a Sea Grant program they should contact the National Sea Grant Office (oar.sg.fellows@noaa.gov) to be assigned a program.
- If interested in applying to USC Sea Grant, email all application materials to seagrant@usc.edu. It is highly recommended to provide at least a month’s time to contact USC Sea Grant and to complete the application process.
