One of my favorite memories from my time abroad was experiencing Paris Saint-Germain’s victory in the Champions League final. As a French soccer fan, watching the match in Paris with my friends and seeing the entire city come together to support the team—and then celebrating the win all night—was an experience I’ll never forget

As a first-generation, transfer student, I would have never imagined that I would have an opportunity to study abroad for 5 months. I felt a special connection to Spain. This experience not only changed me as a person but also helped me grow to a better version of myself.

As a queer non-binary person, a big part of my decision when choosing a location was to make sure that I felt safe being myself. Being in New Zealand definitely made me feel very safe, not only being queer but being a feminine presenting person, and I felt like I could walk around without being scared for the first time.

I had a new understanding of the world, of culture, and of indigenous livelihood that directly influenced my research interests. No matter what your plans are for the future, your time abroad provides transferable skills and a unique set of perspectives that are useful for problem solving and interpersonal relationships in any career.

Spending a year really allows me to experience living in London. I sincerely appreciate the friendship, mentorship, and unforgettable experiences here.

The program reminded me why I love environmental science so much, the impact that I want to have on the world, and the opportunities that are out there for me to pursue a career in this field.

I grew up in Los Angeles and have lived here my whole life, so I yearned for something completely different. I wanted to go somewhere where I knew no one, and had never been to.
