Jelila Adedoyin Surakat in Cape Town, South Africa
The emergence of Amapiano dance and music, and my interest in its connection to Hip-Hop, House, and West African styles of dance, inspired my selection of South Africa as my study abroad destination.
Monica Orozco in Santiago, Chile
My host parents made me f eel like I truly had a home in Chile. It’s one thing to travel to places and stay in hotels/Airbnbs, but living in a Chilean couple’s apartment with them made it feel like I was a part of their family. I truly felt safe and cared for in their apartment and knew that I had a loving home to return to each day and after each trips, and a happy couple who would be excited to welcome me back.
Angelina Lopez in São Paulo, Brazil
I loved my all my roommates. I got super close with all of them and Amanda, our Brazilian roommate, loved to show us around the city, and teach us new words.
Conrad Ragsdale in Tokyo
Studying abroad was an incredible experience, and all the people I met there truly made it amazing. It is not only possible to go abroad, but you also have the tools necessary for a successful experience from USC.
Erica Noll in Argentina
While studying abroad, I was able to take courses for my Philosophy, Politics, and Law major and my Spanish minor. I also learned how to talk about law in Spanish and identify differences between the American and Argentinian legal systems.
Stephen Hunt in Berlin, Germany
I chose IES Abroad in Berlin because I thought that living in the capital would allow me to experience the full range of experiences that Germany has to offer. After completing my program, I am happy to say that it met and actually exceeded my expectations!
Jade Andres in Florence
Sometimes being away from the comfort of home leads to some loneliness, but I found that the more I surrounded myself with good people and friends, this homesickness slowly subsided. Being in a foreign country is definitely a shock in the beginning, but before you know it, you’ll start to feel comfortable.

Asha Adley in Maastricht
Everyone in the program stayed in the same complex. I got lucky and was placed in a single, but there were also some doubles. By living in the same place as all my friends I was able to spend so much time with them exploring the city and relaxing. My friends and I started playing DnD, and I had frequent walks, study days, or movie nights with my friend Jaid who lived a floor up from me. The housing situation really helped create a community for us.
