Earth Science students sweep awards at Society of Vertebrate Paleontology annual meeting

At SVP’s first meeting since the pandemic, students Hank Woolley, Becky Wu, and Kiersten Formoso of Prof. Dave Bottjer’s group received awards for recognition in 2020 and 2021.

Hank: 2020 Richard Estes Award
Becky: 2020 Albert E. Wood Award
Kiersten: 2021 Albert E. Wood Award

The Richard Estes award is given to a graduate student selected for their research in nonmammalian Vertebrate Paleontology, with emphasis on systematics, morphology, biogeography, and paleoecology.

The Albert E. Wood award is given to an undergraduate or graduate student selected for their research involving museum or university vertebrate fossil or natural history collections which is collection-based work on some aspect of vertebrate evolution, with special attention given to those that greatly enhance the value of fossil material already residing in collections.
