2025 Schedit Summer Undergraduate Research Fellow

Ana Hunter

Ana Hunter is a junior at the University of Southern California studying Game Development and Interactive Design. As a fellow at the USC Dornsife Center for Advanced Genocide Research, she focuses on bridging scholarship and interactivity to create new ways of engaging with history. Ana believes that interactive media can help audiences connect with complex narratives—not by gamifying sensitive histories but by offering thoughtful, immersive experiences that invite reflection and understanding where it may not have existed before. Her research explores how histories of systemic injustice, particularly during the Jim Crow era in the American South and the Holocaust, are remembered and transmitted across generations. Ana examines how trauma, survival strategies, and silence shape collective memory. Through her work at the Center, she seeks to create experiences that expand access to these histories and foster deeper dialogue across communities. Inspired by her upcoming project THE MISPLACED BEAT., Ana explores how interactive forms—whether through design, poetry, or digital storytelling—can make complex or overlooked histories more resonant for wider audiences. While her fellowship work centers on integrating scholarship and interactive media, Ana’s broader career passion lies at the intersection of production and narrative design. She is committed to creating meaningful stories that engage players and audiences alike, using interactive technology not as a tool for entertainment alone, but as a means for connection, empathy, and new forms of learning.
