Join the Wrigley Institute for USC Spring Break at the Wrigley Marine Science Center on Catalina Island! Each year, approximately 20 USC students participate in one of our spring break trips, which combine outdoor education with environmental career and skills development.

Note: The Wrigley Institute’s four-day Climate Careers Spring Break is on hold for 2025, but will return in 2026!

USC Spring Break on Catalina Island

USC Spring Break on Catalina Island is now open for registration. See below for information on eligibility and requirements, as well as the activities available through this program.

Dates: Thursday, March 20 through Saturday, March 22

Cost: $150

*Please note that this trip is subject to cancellation if a minimum applicant threshold is not met.* 

  • Eligibility:

    • USC Spring Break on Catalina Island are open to USC students of all years and majors

    Required Commitments:

    • Attend events with the intent to engage, learn, and collaborate
    • Adhere to trip guidelines, USC policies, and community agreements while participating in the trip
    • Complete and turn in all required forms and waivers
    • Pay a non-refundable participant fee of $150 for the 3-day trip, due 1 week prior to the trip departure date. This fee covers housing and activities on Catalina Island, transportation, and meals
  • Past Catalina Island Spring Break Activities have included:

    • Island biogeography discussion and nature hike
    • Catalina marine life lesson & ocean snorkel with our instructors
    • Catalina geology & guided ocean kayak
    • Night bioluminescent plankton lab or night snorkel
    • S’mores around the fire
