The speakers will provide a panel presentation on the “advanced” elements taught in upper and lower-division required writing courses at UCSB: the first-year composition course, Writing 2, and the upper-division 105/107/109 series courses that emphasize more specialized genres. By connecting the advanced elements taught, we 1) trace how students engage with genre in diverse ways during their time at the university and 2) share some of our pedagogical practices.
