  • Summary Statement of Research Interests

My research focuses on the literary representations of blood libel in Russian, Polish, and Yiddish literature between the two Russian revolutions (1905–1917). By analyzing the works of Jewish authors such as Semyon An-sky, Sholem Aleichem, and I.L. Peretz, alongside those of their non-Jewish contemporaries like Fyodor Sologub and Elizaveta Shabelskaya-Bork, I aim to understand how this anti-Semitic trope was interpreted and reimagined within the context of early 20th-century Eastern Europe. My research explores both the literary devices employed by these authors and the personal experiences that may have shaped their perspectives on this historical event. Furthermore, I am interested in the broader implications of narrating historical trauma from the perspectives of both observers and participants.
