The Wrigley Institute Catalina Residential College, based at the Wrigley Marine Science Center on Catalina Island, is your campus-away-from-campus for learning about the environment and sustainability. We offer residential courses on a variety of topics, with a focus on interdisciplinary and hands-on learning for future environmental leaders.

Earn a semester’s credit in just four weeks as you train to become a next-generation environmental leader. All courses and activities take place in our unique, interdisciplinary learning environment at the Wrigley Marine Science Center on pristine Santa Catalina Island.

Maymester 2024 dates: May 13- June 7
Cost: Included in fall tuition, but with additional costs for room and board (significant financial aid is available)

Julymester 2024 dates: July 15-August 9 “Catalina Residential College in July”
Cost: Included in fall tuition, but with additional costs for room and board (significant financial aid is available)

How to Apply

Step 1: Visit the Wrigley Institute for Environment and Sustainability’s Catalina Residential College website to apply for Maymester courses by Saturday, November 25, 2023. The direct application link is here. July program applications will open in the spring semester.

Step 2: Once accepted into a Maymester program, you will receive a confirmation email and must submit a commitment to the program by noon on Friday, December 15 at noon.

Step 3: After committing to the FLP, request D-clearance from the course department and register for the course through Web registration. 

Step 4: Complete all Maymester forms required by USC.

All Dornsife FLP’s are for undergraduate applicants only, graduate students are not eligible. 

Progressive degree students may apply and participate in FLP’s if they have not completed their undergraduate requirements and is considered an undergraduate by the University. Prior to applying, contact Dornsife FLP inbox for clearance flp@dornsife.usc.edu.

Financial Aid

The Wrigley Institute for Environmental Studies offers financial support to cover the room & board fee for Julymesters based at the Wrigley Marine Science Center. Please visit our website to apply by March 1st. Significant financial support is available.

Most financial aid is transferable to official USC study abroad programs. However, each student is highly encouraged to reach out directly to the USC Financial Aid Office to confirm their package details.
