Alex Balcazar is a Data Analyst at the USC Equity Research Institute where he primarily produces analyses for the National Equity Atlas. His work focuses on economic inclusion and regional equity. In 2024, Alex co-authored a piece with Manuel Pastor for the London School of Economics Inequalities Blog entitled, “To heal our fragmented economic system, we must look to deeper aspects of our human nature”.

Prior to joining ERI, Alex worked as a Senior Consultant for the Baha’i International Development Organization and as a Data Analyst Intern at the City of Garland, Texas Economic Development Department. Alex’s research has been published in academic journals including the Hispanic Journal of Behavioral Sciences and Public Health.

Alex holds a Master’s degree in Public Administration from the University of Texas at Arlington, a Graduate Certificate in Geographic Information Systems from the University of California, San Diego, and a BA in Sociology from the University of Texas at El Paso.
