Welcome, Noah Phillips!
Noah Phillips joined the Department of Earth Sciences in August, 2024. Philips received his Ph.D. from McGill University. His group studies the mechanics of faults and shear zones from the field- to nano-scale to better understand the earthquake cycle, the movement of tectonic plates, and the structural controls of mineral resources. He travel around the world to document how rocks and minerals deform in nature, then return to the Field to Nano Lab to determine how our samples deformed at the micro- to nano-scale.
From Noah – “I’m looking for excited graduate students to join my research group. Please visit my website to learn more about my group’s research and, if you are looking for a PhD project in the broad fields of structural geology, tectonics, and/or ore deposit research, please contact me.”
