University of Southern California
Conference Dates: Oct. 24-25, 2025
Proposal Deadline: May 1, 2025
We are proud to announce the Second Annual Historical Political Economy (HPE) conference is now accepting proposals. We also welcome expressions of interest to participate as possible discussants and attendees.
HPE is a rapidly growing field, and this conference creates an interdisciplinary space where scholars can workshop cutting-edge papers on topics including but not limited to economic development, historical legacies, state-building, state capacity, colonialism, nationalism, and globalism. The conference is open with regard to papers’ geographic context.
We invite you to participate by indicating your interest as a prospective presenter, discussant, or attendee. We welcome proposals from junior and senior scholars, including advanced PhD students. Please fill out this form as per your interest.
Limited funding for hotel accommodations is available for participants who have a formal role in the conference. If you are invited to be a presenter following the review of proposals, you are expected to submit a draft of the paper no later than one week before the conference begins.
We would be happy to answer any questions; email us at CIS@dornsife.usc.edu.
