Major: Anthropology

Ask Me About:  Curious or prospective students can ask me about what classes to take, how to get involved in undergraduate research opportunities, and what career paths to explore as an anthropology major. Anthropology is not only known for fieldwork and excavation, but you’ll learn that it can also serve as a reference or concept for other fields like psychology and law. USC offers a wide range of classes, which opens the door to various professional paths.

Advice:  I would advise that you get involved in clubs related to anthropology! Since it is a smaller major, joining clubs will help you meet upperclassmen, classmates, and even professors. Also, if there is a department meeting or community-related event, that is where you will really build connections with the faculty and TAs. If you are unsure about majoring, minoring is a great option due to the variety of subfields, such as medical, biological, and sociocultural anthropology. Even non-pre-med students can explore health and medicine through an anthropological lens. Also, consider taking advantage of opportunities like Maymester or the Joint Education Program (JEP), where you can gain hands-on experience while learning in-depth about anthropological methods and perspectives.
