Evolving Possibilities: Futures of Advanced Writing
Friday, January 29, 2027
The USC Writing Program is delighted to host the fourth annual National Advanced Writing Symposium on January 29, 2027. The event is entirely ONLINE and FREE to both speakers and attendees. Our theme, “Evolving Possibilities: Futures of Advanced Writing,” welcomes participants to contemplate how Advanced Writing continues to transform and adjust in response to emerging needs and conditions in our discipline and beyond. Please join us and share the innovative ways you build your students’ confidence and skills in a world that is changing on so many levels. Our theme invites analyses of the multiplicitous information landscape that advanced student writers face as they contemplate their transition from school writers to life writers. What’s more, it provides teachers of advanced writing with a space to consider new ways of helping students discover how writing works in the world beyond college.
We are eager to share the full Call For Papers here in August 2026. In the meantime, please join our mailing list to receive that update and other NAWS 2027 news. You can also contact our co-chairs directly: Tamara Black (tamarabl@usc.edu) and Elizabeth Durst (edurst@usc.edu).
Sincerely,
The NAWS 2027 Organizing Committee
