Summary Statement of Research Interests

Elena Petrova’s main research interests lie in Russian and Polish literature of the first half of 19th century. Her current work is concentrated on the “Jewish question” in the Russian Empire and on images of Jewish women in Aleksandr Pushkin’s oeuvre. Elena’s secondary research interests concern the issues of character development in Russian literature. Elena’s prior publications discuss the impact of Laurence Sterne on Russian literature of 1800—1920s.
