Our mission is to conduct outstanding research and teaching in physics and astronomy. We are striving to be the intellectual foundation of USC’s scientific community, leading innovations in basic and applied research, and thus driving developments in all areas of science. Graduate and undergraduate education is central to our mission, preparing students for successful careers working both in academia and industry.
There is a strong component of student governance in our Department: the Society of Physics Students (SPS), Graduate Students in Physics (GASP), and Women in Physics (WiP) all play important roles in student life in the Department through outreach and professional development activities.
