Celeste Lanclos, a Ph.D. Candidate in the Thrash Lab, has recently had a first-author publication in The ISME Journal exploring a subclade of SAR11 (the most abundant bacterioplankton) that is adapted to brackish water, a.k.a. subclade IIIa. This work made use of novel isolates, new genomes, and comparisons with over 400 other SAR11 to define the intra-clade diversity, habitat range, and unique genomics of this subclade. Read more!
