Our Current Studies
- Thinking Boots (3 to 5 years old)
This study looks at how 3- to 5-year-old children learn verbs that describe mental states. The study runs over zoom and takes about 20~30 minutes, including a live zoom session with your child and a brief questionnaire for parents. During the zoom session, your child will hear a story and watch some video clips. After the study, you will be emailed a $15 Amazon gift card as a token of our appreciation.
- 3..2..1..Action Study (8 to 9 months old)
This study looks at how 8 and 9 months old babies pick up patterns found in human action sequences. The study runs in-person at the USC University Park Campus and takes about 20 to 30 minutes. In the study, your child would watch some video clips for approximately 5-10 minutes. You will receive free parking for the day, a $15 Amazon gift card, and a small gift for your child’s participation.
- Baby Learning Patterns (11 to 12 months old)
This study looks at how 11 and 12 months old babies learn patterns from novel speech and how this may be linked to their language environment. You can participate in this study in-person in our lab on the USC University Park Campus or online via Zoom. In the study, your child would watch video clips or listen to audio files for approximately 5-10 minutes. The total session lasts around 20-30 minutes. You will receive a $15 Amazon gift card for either the in-person or online version. You will also receive free parking for the day and a small gift for in-person participation.
