Our Current Studies

• 3..2..1..Action Study (8 to 9 months old)

This study looks at how 8 and 9 months old babies pick up patterns found in human action sequences. The study runs in-person at the USC University Park Campus and takes about 20 to 30 minutes. In the study, your child would watch some video clips for approximately 5-10 minutes. You will receive free parking for the day, a $15 Amazon gift card, and a small gift for your child’s participation.

• Baby Learning Patterns (11 to 12 months old)

This study looks at how 11 and 12 months old babies learn patterns from novel speech and how this may be linked to their language environment. You can participate in this study in-person in our lab on the USC University Park Campus or online via Zoom. In the study, your child would watch video clips or listen to audio files for approximately 5-10 minutes. The total session lasts around 20-30 minutes. You will receive a $15 Amazon gift card for either the in-person or online version. You will also receive free parking for the day and a small gift for in-person participation.

• Can You Find Another (2 to 3 years old)

This study looks at how 2 and 3 years old children form categories of novel objects. This study runs online over Zoom and takes about 15 minutes in total. In the study, your child will watch video clips containing novel objects, and answer some questions about the objects. This part will last about 10 minutes. You will receive a $5 Amazon gift card for your child’s participation.

If your child doesn’t fit within the specified age ranges but you’d still like to contribute to our studies, please feel free to sign up regardless. We’ll reach out when we have a study suitable for their age in the future.
