for the 2022-2023 Academic Year

  •

Evelyn Alsultany, American Studies and Ethnicity
American Studies 215gw, Race and Mixed Race

You were an amazing professor Dr. Alsultany!  You explained difficult and controversial concepts carefully and were always easy to understand.  I love that you encouraged class discussion, and allowed us students to learn from one another.  Keep on being great!

    Antonio Idini, French and Italian
General Education Seminar 120g, Seminar in Humanistic Inquiry: The Power of Stories — Tribal Identity in Contemporary America

I love Professor Idini.  He created such a great classroom environment where we all felt comfortable and engaged.  I learned a much deeper and richer appreciation of Native American culture and traditions.  Thank you for everything!

Saleemah Knight, Kaufman School of Dance
Dance 212g, Dance in Popular Culture

This class made me view dance in a different light.  I now appreciate dance more and how it is represented and incorporated into modern culture.  Even though I am not a dance major, I appreciate what was taught and I will keep elements of it in mind from now on.

Donald Scotten, Gould School of Law
Law 210p, Fundamentals of the U.S. Legal System

Never stop teaching!  Your class was an absolute joy.  I learned about U.S. law and have a better understanding of how our government works and why those systems are in place today.  It’s so clear how passionate you are about what you teach and your students as well.

Cheryl Wakslak, Marshall School of Business
General Education Seminar 131g, Seminar in Social Analysis: The Art and Science of Decision Making

This course was so valuable to personal and academic growth.  Even though it was at 8am, I looked forward to class and would walk away with curiosity for the topics discussed.  I really appreciated Professor Wakslak’s instruction which challenged me to think further about my perspectives.

    Mary Washburn, Linguistics
Linguistics 285Lg, Human Language and Technology

This is my first linguistics course and enjoyed it so much that I am now majoring in linguistics. You managed to make incredibly complex material simple for us to understand.  I do not regret starting off my journey with this course.

  •

    Ryan Boyd, Dornsife Writing Program
Writing 150, Writing and Critical Reasoning – Thematic Approaches

Although I am a STEM major, Writing 150 quickly became my favorite class because of how interactive it was.  The way Professor Boyd structured the class so that everyone had the opportunity to speak up and share their ideas truly helped me maximize my learning.

    Jen Bankard, Dornsife Writing Program
Writing 340, Advanced Writing for Natural Sciences

Thank you for an amazing semester!  I thoroughly enjoyed the class under your instruction and found myself having a lot of fun with the assignments.  Keep teaching for as long as you can because you rock at it!

    Janna Wong, Marshall Writing Program
Writing 340, Advanced Writing for Business

The most valuable aspects of this course include the development of critical thinking and analytical skills, learning to effectively compose various essential business documents such as employee memos and press releases, and honing negotiation techniques while understanding cultural differences.

  •

    Mariechristine Garcia, History
History 102mg, The Worlds of Medieval Europe

Mariechristine gave us context and explained to us the historical setting of a lot of these texts which I found immensely helpful.  Additionally, I felt like I always received constructive feedback on everything that I submitted, which really helped me improve my writing and quality of work.

    Mary Kate Kennedy, Linguistics
Linguistics 385Lg, Human Language as Computation

Mary Kate was very accommodating and understanding of every student.  She was very encouraging and worked really hard to make sure everyone understood the content.  I really appreciated how well–formatted the labs were.

Seoyeon Lee, East Asian Languages and Cultures
East Asian Languages and Cultures 358g, Transnational Chinese Literature and Culture

Thank you for a wonderful semester and carrying us through discussions.  I learned so much through you and others in our discussion class, and I especially enjoyed your insights on science fiction.

    Han Shen, Spatial Sciences Institute
Spatial Sciences 165Lgw, Sustainability Science in the City

Ms. Han did a phenomenal job teaching the lab section for this course.  She was accommodating and generous in her time to help students where they were.

    Elissa Watters, Art History
Art History 120gp, Foundations of Western Art: Prehistoric to Renaissance

I really enjoyed your discussion this semester.  The material was super engaging, and I loved that you were able to get us into the library archives to see all the older books from the time period we were studying.  That was such a cool experience.
