September 2025 updates

New features for IT guides: video walkthroughs

We have begun adding 2-4 minute video walkthroughs to frequently consulted DTS help guides, for anyone who prefers videos to written instructions or screenshots. For example:

• Connecting to Dornsife network drives
• Using Web Print to print to Dornsife network printers
• Using Zoom Scheduler to create booking pages

Are there additional IT topics that could be helpful as video walkthroughs for Dornsife faculty, staff, and students? As we continue adding videos, email us to share your suggestions!

Reminder: Review Google storage usage

• Google Shared Drives: If you manage any Google Shared Drives, please review their storage usage and remove files you no longer need. This will help USC Dornsife to meet our allotted quota as we try to avoid incurring chargebacks for existing Shared Drives.
• Google individual accounts: Per ITS, anyone with a USC Google account over the 100 GB limit can still view, download, and email files, but cannot add or modify files until the account is below 100 GB. To purchase additional storage, request a Google Drive Quota Increase.

Reminder: Windows 10 is retiring in October

After October 14, 2025, Microsoft will stop supporting Windows 10 and will no longer provide important security updates. DTS has been emailing Dornsife faculty and staff still using Windows 10 to offer upgrade assistance and, as needed, support with alternatives.
