The National Institute of Standards and Technology and the United States Department of Commerce has selected USC faculty for funding to develop educational programs that train students to expand circular plastics industries toward the goal of environmental sustainability. Led by Prof. Barry Thompson, Prof. Fieser, and Prof. Williams, the Department of Chemistry will use the funds to offer an undergraduate, interdisciplinary minor to students, giving them access to training on various aspects of polymer circularity.

The USC Michelson Center for Convergent Bioscience and Agilent Technologies, Inc. proudly introduce the latest awardees in the Agilent Fellows Program. Dr. Alessandro Coradini and Dr. Matthew Sarnowski have been selected for the fellowship, which provides support for two years of postdoctoral research. The Agilent Fellows Program is now accepting postdoctoral applications for 2023.
Professor Smaranda Marinescu was selected by The Alexander von Humboldt Foundation for the Humboldt Research Fellowship, which supports research in Germany for 6-24 months while having access to the resources of the awardee’s host institution. Prof. Marinescu will work with Dr. Serena DeBeer of Max Planck Institute for Chemical Energy Conversion, researching the development of electrocatalytic metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) to convert renewable energy into chemical bonds. Congratulations, Professor Marinescu, for this well-deserved honor!
