This well-deserved honor recognizes Professor Prakash’s award-winning research in hydrocarbon and synthetic organic chemistry. His work has allowed notable advances in developing alternatives to fossil fuels, carbon capture capabilities, and many other areas. In addition to his research, the appointment is a testament to his leadership, teaching, and mentorship contributions at USC over the past 43 years. Congratulations, Surya Prakash!

Awards and Announcements

The National Institute of Standards and Technology and the United States Department of Commerce has selected USC faculty for funding to develop educational programs that train students to expand circular plastics industries toward the goal of environmental sustainability. Led by Prof. Barry Thompson, Prof. Fieser, and Prof. Williams, the Department of Chemistry will use the funds to offer an undergraduate, interdisciplinary minor to students, giving them access to training on various aspects of polymer circularity.
