Meeting with your academic advisor is an important part of your academic journey at USC. Dornsife academic advisors offer both in-person and Zoom advising options. There are several advising options available depending on your advising needs.
A minimum of ONE (1) advising appointment is required each semester (see Mandatory Advising below). During mandatory advisement, students meet one-on-one with their academic advisors to discuss their progress in the current semester and plans for the upcoming term.

Finalize semester schedule | Weeks 1-3 | Meet with the assigned advisor of your declared major to discuss course changes and grading options for the current semester. |
Explore academic & research options, short- and long-term course planning, internships, and other opportunities | Weeks 3-5, 13-15 | Meet with the assigned advisor of your declared major to plan for future semesters, discuss academic and career goals, explore co-curricular and extracurricular opportunities, research and much more. |
Mandatory Advising | 6-12 | Meet with the assigned advisor of your declared major to review your progress and discuss plans for next semester. This appointment is required to enroll in the upcoming term. To enroll in classes when your permit to register opens, schedule and complete this session in advance. Check email sent by advisor for more info. |
